An HM-2 and RAT hybrid that takes the success of the HM808 ten steps further. "You're gonna love the way you sound"
Shown above is a very generalized rundown of the signal routing found in the Merciless Drive. This allows you to fully blend between either just a standalone clean boost, a Rat based ultra high gain distortion, a boosted HM-2 Eq section or any combination of them all. Many don't realize that a Rat can be used in the same method as a tubescreamer with the volume cranked and the gain down. This gives you the ultimate crunch tone and you'd be foolish not to try it. While the boost has no controls of it's own, it's doing it's thing behind the scenes. Typically blending in a dry guitar signal causes a ton of signal loss as your wet signal needs to be turned down to match. This brings the guitar signal up louder to match and helps avoid phase issues.
Volume: This controls the overall volume of the pedal. No surprises found here.
Gain: This is what controls the distortion of the Rat section of the pedal. Turn it all the way down for the crunchiest overdrive tone you'd ever dream of. Turn it up some super thick, saturated distortion; not unlike the HM-2. (This control can not be heard with the BLEND fully counter-clockwise as it blends the Rat out of the circuit in that setting.)
Bite: A simple passive treble control that compliments the Eq section. The lowest settings are warm and smooth while the higher settings are sharp and bright. (This control can not be heard with the BLEND fully counter-clockwise as it blends the Rat out of the circuit in that setting.)
Low: An active bass control that can also be used as a Tight control when turned fully counter-clockwise. Turn it up to the max with the High control for those chainsaw tones. (Set this to NOON to essentially "bypass" the Eq controls.)
High: An active mids/treble filter that can either smooth out, sharpen up or grind your high end to pieces. Turn it up to the max for those chainsaw tones. (Set this to NOON to essentially "bypass" the Eq controls.)
Blend: The active signal blend is controlled by the Blend control. Fully counter-clockwise gives you only the boost and Eq, while fully clockwise gives you only the Rat and Eq. blended signals can be found at any setting in between.
Power: The Merciless Drive is powered by an onboard bi-polar power supply. It requires 9Volts ONLY and will provide more benefits on it's own that any voltage change ever could. Higher voltages will only damage the pedal and void it's warranty.
